The Deep Issue: Studies in a Revolutionary Idea
In 1984, while serving as a law clerk to Judge Thomas M. Reavley of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, Bryan Garner began a quest to answer this question: How can a writer most sensibly state a legal problem? And after much research and working through hundreds of briefs and motions, Professor Garner developed the Deep Issue–the most effective presentation of an argument’s key points in a concise and understandable manner. Judges all over the country have touted briefs using the Deep Issue. In one hour, Professor Garner will explain the method and makeup of the Deep Issue and how to use it effectively no matter how complicated the case or brief.
In materials describing the Deep Issue and also with examples of actual issue statements framed as the Deep Issue, Professor Garner will teach you something that will revolutionize your writing.
